This repair always hurts, but sometimes it's the only way to save a beloved guitar. Top replacements become necessary
or a persuading alternative for a number of reasons: Impact damage results in a massive repair undertaking,
previous repairs (or repair attempts) may have left the soundboard in such a state that it is unsalvageable,
or sometimes it is the customers desire because of inferior tone or aesthetics.
Top replacements are just about the most drastic and invasive repair to be performed and are not a decision to be
made in haste. Sometimes this repair may out value the instrument or lessen the value of a vintage piece but
sometimes, is the only alternative.
Quotes on top replacements are strictly on an individual basis and include: A new top, replacement of top binding,
a neck reset, refret, complete body refinish, bridge reglue, pickguard replacement, and a set up. If additional parts
are needed (new bridge, etc.) there may be added costs.
